Loving Each Other:Some Solicited Advice

4 01 2006

Don’t fall in love with love, you’ll die with its complexities.

Don’t think in terms of forever. Think of now, and forever will take care of itself.

Grow up together, constantly.

Recognize that all relationships cannot be forever. Recognize their temporary quality, but continue to act as if they are permanent.

Respect the other person’s relationships apart from you. If they are important to the one you care about, they should be important to you.

Never idealize others. They will never live up to your expectations.

Take your time.

Don’t feel as if you are required to spend every waking hour with those you love. Move aside from time to time and allow them a separate space too.

Never force anyone to do anything for you in the name of love. Love is not to be bargained for.

Don’t be afraid.

Don’t overanalyze your relationships.

Realize that you always have choices. It’s up to you.

Don’t allow relationships to burden your heart; rather use it to become more aware and sensitive.

Don’t lose touch with the craziness in you. This, with a large dose of caring, will assure that your relationship will never be boring.

Don’t hold on to anger. they steal your energy and keep you from love.

There are times when you want to give up on a relationship but never give up on relating.

Learn to listen. You don’t learn anything from hearing yourself talk.

Expect what is reasonable, not what is perfect.

Write down all the reasons why you love each person you relate with. Then, when the going gets tough, take the list out and reread it. It resolves problems quickly.

After an argument is over, forget it.

Learn to bend. It’s better than breaking.

Since love can be created, there is no reason to be loveless.

Even though you are only half of a relationship, you must remain a whole person, apart from the relationship.

Remember that moral and spiritual values don’t restrict, they protect.

Man and Woman

by: Victor Hugo

Man is the most elevated of creatures, Woman the most sublime of ideals.
God made for man a throne; for woman an altar.
The throne exalts, the altar sanctifies.
Man is the brain, Woman, the heart.
The brain creates light, the heart, Love. Light engenders, Love resurrects.
Because of reason Man is strong, because of tears Woman is invincible.
Reason is convincing, tears moving.
Man is capable of all heroism, Woman of all martyrdom.
Heroism ennobles, martyrdom sublimates.
Man has supremacy, Woman, preference.
Supremacy is strength, preference is the right.
Man is a genius, Woman, an angel.
Genius is immeasurable, the angel undefinable.
The aspiration of man is supreme glory, The aspiration of woman is extreme virtue.
Glory creates all that is great; virtue, all that is divine.
Man is a code, Woman a gospel.
A code corrects, the gospel perfects.
Man thinks, Woman dreams.
To think is to have a worm in the brain, to dream is to have a halo on the brow.
Man is an ocean, Woman a lake.
The ocean has the adorning pearl, the lake, dazzling poetry.
Man is the flying eagle, Woman, the singing nightingale.
To fly is to conquer space. To sing is to conquer the Soul.
Man is a temple, Woman a shrine.
Before the temple we discover ourselves, before the shrine we kneel.
In short, man is found where earth finishes, woman where heaven begins.
Who said therefore, that woman is inferior to man?

For All Women…

Did anyone tell you that you’re beautiful?

By the time the Lord made women, he was into his sixth day of working overtime. An Angel appeared and said, “Why are you spending so much time on this one?”.

And the Lord answered and said, “Have you seen the spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have 200 movable parts, all replaceable, run on black coffee and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart, and have six pairs of hands.”

The Angel was astounded at the requirements for this one. “Six pairs of hands! No Way!”, “And that’s just on the standard model?” the Angel asked.

The Angel tried to stop the Lord. “This is too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish.”
But I can’t!”, the Lord protested, “I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days.

The Angel moved closer and touched the man,”but you have made her so soft, Lord.” “She is soft”, the Lord agreed, “but I have also made Her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.”

Will she be able to think?”, asked the Angel. The Lord replied, “Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason, and negotiate.”

The Angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the woman’s cheek. “Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.”

That’s not a leak,” the Lord objected, “that’s a tear!” “What’s the tear for?” the Angel asked.
The Lord said, “The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride.”

The Angel was impressed. “You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything, for women are truly amazing.”

Women have strengths that amaze men. They carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up for injustice. They don’t take “no”for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when the ir children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes. They’ll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how ch they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin! They bring joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.
